What happened

1. 1Easement agreements for sidewalk and roadway improvements at 85 and 101 Kings Highway East received unanimous positive referral to the Board of Selectmen.
2. 2Subdivision application for 688 Hulls Farm Road was unanimously approved with staff conditions.
3. 3The coastal site plan application for an 11-foot by 17-foot FEMA-compliant inground pool at 1370 Fairfield Beach Road was unanimously approved with conditions.

Why it matters

Section 6 Designed Business Districts regulations establish three district types with dimensional standards including maximum heights of 3-4 stories, lot coverage of 75-90%, and floor area ratios of 150-325%. A motion to postpone the regulations to April 7th failed 2-5.

1. 1Authorization approved unanimously to apply for a $1 million DECD grant for roadway and pedestrian safety improvements in the Greenfield Hill area.
2. 2$689,118 contract with POM Associates authorized for roof repair at Fairfield Burr Homestead, 739 Old Post Road.
3. 3A $105,800 increase in bond authorization for the Fairfield Ludlowe High School elevator replacement project was approved unanimously, raising the total to $3,562,288.

Why it matters

The $1 million grant, if awarded, will fund a road and pedestrian safety assessment, conceptual design, and improvements including the Redding Road roundabout in the Greenfield Hill area. A public meeting is planned during the study phase to gather resident input, and the state will provide 100% reimbursement of project costs.
